My Approach

Ketamine Assisted Psychotherapy (KAP) is an experimental treatment increasingly used for various chronic and treatment-resistant issues like anxiety, obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD), post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), and depression, often after traditional treatment approaches have been unsuccessful.

My approach differs from other Ketamine providers who work within a medical model with IV or IM administration by a nurse, or self-administered sublingual lozenges. These medical providers do not typically offer preparation and intention setting, or integration support during or after the KAP experience.

Psychedelics offer a tremendous potential for healing & transformation. They are a tool to expand consciousness, support neural-plasticity (improving neural flexibility). KAP sessions involve your whole self (body, mind, heart, soul and spirit) during the subjective, conscious experience.

If you think about depression, anxiety, and OCD as well-worn pathways in your neurophysiology, Ketamine is an aide to help you establish new neural pathways. KAP helps establish new - healthier - thoughts, behaviors, and emotional experiences.

Psychedelics used recreationally, without a therapeutic container and guide, can induce an altered state of consciousness that has its own risks and benefits. In Psychedelic Assisted Therapies, the emphasis is on the therapy and the therapy is then exponentiated by the aide of a medicine that expands and alters consciousness and reorganizes default modes.

The importance of preparation before, holding presence and processing material that comes up during, and integration sessions afterward, are all vitally necessary components of true, meaningful, and lasting healing. The therapeutic set and setting separates a trip from a sacred therapeutic medicine journey.

How can Psychadelic Assisted Psychotherapy (KAP) compliment your healing path?

Ketamine Assisted Psychotherapy (KAP) is a holistic modality in which a psycholytic dose of Ketamine is used as a complement / adjunct to psychotherapy to help people experience breakthroughs and sustained improvement with reduction or alleviation of distressing symptoms.

I offer KAP in partnership with Journey Clinical. I take on the psychotherapy portion of the experience, while Journey Clinical’s medical team supports you with all of the medical aspects, including determining eligibility, developing a customized for you treatment plan, prescribing the medicine, and monitoring outcomes.

KAP FAQ’s

What Does Ketamine Feel Like?

During Ketamine-Assisted Psychotherapy journeys, you may experience any number of things and each journey will be different for each person (and each journey). Possible experiences include: becoming more aware of how your body feels (increased sensation and interoception), a quieting of the conscious mind, access to your subconscious mind, increased feelings of connection to yourself and others. Feeling disembodied and connected to universal consciousness. You may become aware of past experiences from a different perspective. You may even have a spiritual experience, connecting to spirit guides, nature, ancestors, Akashic Records, and past lives.

Some describe Ketamine-Assisted Psychotherapy as being in a dream-like state of expanded consciousness, with enough distance from the thoughts and beliefs you normally hold about particular issues, which allows you to explore them from a new perspective, providing you with increased insight and the ability release the underlying issue from your mind and nervous system. You may also experience visual, auditory, and other sensory effects, known as synesthesia (a blending of the senses). These effects usually last about 45-60 minutes, with me as your guide supporting you throughout the entire process.

My Process

KAP journey work is offered to current clients and to people independent of my regular therapy caseload. In other words, you can be a current client, or just seeking KAP to augment your work with your primary therapist.

The process is simple:

  1. **If you are not an existing client and new to working with me (we have never worked together before), have another therapist whom you wish to do integration sessions with to process the KAP journeys, and want to work with me solely for KAP, we will need to meet for a free consultation to explore whether we’re a good fit to work together, followed by an initial 80-minute intake session and 6 preparation sessions to establish care before your preparation & intention setting, followed by dosing sessions.

  2. If we are already working together and we determine KAP might support your therapy goals, I submit a referral on your behalf to the prescriber that I work with - Journey Clinical.

  3. Journey Clinical’s medical team will reach out to you and schedule an evaluation appointment, prescribe the medicine, and conduct follow-up appointments to manage your medical Ketamine care.

Initial medical appointment with Journey Clinical
$250 plus cost of enough medicine for 2 dosing sessions $88 (total $338)

Ongoing treatment
Follow-up medical consultation with Journey Clinical $150 (at least 1X per quarter)
‍Cost of medication: $148 (enough for up to 6 sessions)

5. We will meet for 2-3 therapeutic intention/preparation sessions to prepare for the Ketamine Journey together.

-Ketamine Medicine Journey (2-3hr). Each Ketamine dosing session is billed for 2 hours.
*If the session extends beyond 2 hours, it will be prorated in 30-minute increments.

-One to three integration sessions between each dosing session, depending on your therapeutic needs & goals.

-Ketamine Medicine Journey (2-3hr)

-One to three integration sessions between each dosing session

-Rinse & Repeat, based on your prescriber’s customized-for-you KAP medical plan, up to 6-8 KAP sessions.

6. Ongoing KAP on a monthly or quarterly basis, as needed.
-Follow-up medical consultation with Journey Clinical $150 (at least once per quarter)

Each person is different and requires a unique and specialized approach to the therapeutic assisted side of KAP therapy. As a team, we will talk about what is recommended for your particular case, therapy goals, etc.

Integration is Where the Magic Is

Integration can process a seemingly "bad or uneventful trip" into the most necessary and life-changing "trip" of your life. The nervous system adapts and consolidates the gains experienced in the journey during the integration phase. Do you want an expensive short "trip" or do you want a journey to someplace new?

My therapeutic approach to KAP journeywork:

 1. Psychedelic Journeys are sacred experiences that should be approached with reverence, awe, and profound respect. Approach it as a sacred ceremony.

 2. When the conditions are right, healing happens (and sometimes these conditions are waaaaaay outside of your comfort zone)!

 3. Somatic Trauma Resolution, hypnotherapy, Parts Work, Pleasure & Embodiment therapies, and other specialized modalities used in conjunction with Psychedelic Assisted Therapy (PAT) help to facilitate secure attachment with self and a nourished and resilient nervous system over time.
